The Nirmal Bharat Yatra - Jhansi ki Rani, Gwalior Fort and an autumnevening

In this article, the author "Urmila Chanam" describes her visit to the Gwalior fort and the story of the Rani of Jhansi. Courtesy :  India Water Portal The fort wall was an artifact, property of great historical value, a museum pride and the most precious belonging of the people of Gwalior, a city in the central region of India.  It was a beautiful autumn evening, in my walk up the steep ascent that led to the front of the fort I could sense the magnificent dominance of the structure in this terrain. Gwalior fort-militarily, it must have been almost unconquerable. As I shifted my backpack that was an unwise and unnecessary weight that carried my laptop, tablet, water bottle brimming with cold water to beat the heat, notepads, my glasses and camera I found myself annoyed to be in a situation like this where I would have fared better without a heavy bag . The ascent to the main fort gate made my calf muscles ache, the fading sun acted harsher on my skin, I almost gave up ...

Shrimant Jyotiraditya Scindia

Jyotiraditya Scindia was born to Madhavrao Scindia and Madhavi Raje Scindia. He was born on January 1st, 1971 in Mumbai. He did his schooling from the prestigious Doon School in India and then went off to do his graduation in United States in Harvard University and MBA from the Stanford University. At present, Jyotiraditya is the member of the 14th Lok Sabha of India representing the political party, Indian National Congress. He is also the Maharaja of the princely state of Gwalior and a scion of the Scindia royal family.

He was all of 6 years old when Amjad Ali Khan gave his first recital of   Sarod . It was the beginning of yet another glorious chapter in the history of Indian classical music. Taught by his father  Haafiz Ali Khan  Amjad Ali Khan was born to the illustrious Bangash lineage rooted in the Senia Bangash School of music. Today he shoulders the sixth generation of inheritance in this legendary lineage. After his debut, the career graph of this musical legend took the speed of light, and on its way the Indian classical music scene was witness to regular and scintillating bursts of Raga supernovas.
